Apple fritter bread

Our family, including our beloved Grandma Lorraine, who famously told us that “there’s not much in life that can’t be made better with butter,” has made developing the perfect batch of butter our family legacy. This goal is more than 125 years in the making, a passion passed on from generation to generation, including our children, who make up generation six.

The end result is a line high butterfat butter in multiple, dreamy flavors, from sea salt butter to the garlic herb variety.

You can grab the rolled version of our butter — or the classic sticks you’ll often find on store shelves — from your local market or specialty store, by using our location tool.

So, without further ado, here’s our recipe for this tasty Apple Fritter Bread:

Servings: 10

  • 1 1/2 cups + 1 tablespoon All purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large or 2 small Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and chopped
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup Minerva Dairy Unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 2 eggs, at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Vanilla glaze

  • 1/3 powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup – 1/3 cup milk or cream

      1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Spray a loaf pan and line with parchment paper for easy removal.
      2. Into a medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt and set aside.
      3. Into the bowl of your stand mixer, add butter and granulated sugar.  Beat for 2 minutes and then add in the eggs, one at a time.  Add in vanilla and milk and beat until just combined.
      4. In another medium bowl, add chopped apples, 1 tablespoon of flour and half the brown sugar, cinnamon mixture.
      5. Pour half the batter into the bottom of the prepared loaf pan.
      6. Top with half of the chopped apples, the rest of the batter and the remaining apples.  Sprinkle top with remaining cinnamon sugar mixture.
      7. Bake in the oven for about 1 hour or until a toothpick in the center comes out clean.
      8. Remove and allow to cool.
